The Audi A5 was unveiled simultaneously at the Geneva Motor Show and the Melbourne International Motor Show on March 6th 2007. Since then it has won two Red Dot Design awards in 2007 and was also one of the nominees for 'World Car of The Year Awards 2008.'

The A5 model with a 3.2 L V6 engine averages around 21 MPG and generates around 260 BHP. There are models with more green-friendly 2.0 L engines that should get you nearer to 40 MPG.

If the power of the 3.2 L V6 A5 isn't enough to get your blood pumping then you can always try the S5; this will set you back an extra $15,000 but it will reward you with a throaty 4.2 L V8 generating almost 350 BHP.

Though it is still early days for the A5, Audi should be very pleased that there have been no reported recalls.

The new Audi A5 is the first model available with a 3.2 L FSI unit equipped with new valve technology, the Audi 'valvelift system;' this system increases engine efficiency while simultaneously lowering the cars consumption of fuel.

The design of the car has come from an evolution from Audi into the coupe industry where they stretched the wheelbase of the ever popular Audi A4 and adopted the packaging system from the all aluminum A8 sedan; this has produced a more rearward distribution of weight resulting in a better handling balance.

Those of you in the market for a cabriolet need not fear, the convertible Audi A5 is scheduled for production in 2009 and should be even faster than Coupe as it boasts a fabric roof that should reduce weight considerably.

Audi really wants the customer to feel like part of the creational force behind the A5; there is room not only to customize the paint and fabric but also the steering wheel, gear knob, handbrake and mats with various metals, leathers and woods.

The Audi A5 is yet to have been submitted for crash testing but the build quality of every car in the Audi range should have any potential buyers feeling secure about the advanced safety features within the A5. If that isn't enough however, then there is always the innovative combination of aluminum and high-strength steel for advanced protection.

The Audi A5 which is the German automaker's first full size coupe, released the latest model having net torque of 243 at 3250RPM-5000RPM with fuel capacity of 16.9gal
