Starting at only $21,245, the CR-V is a great buy for anyone looking for a slightly larger car but not willing to commit to all the extra costs at the pump. Also, the CRV retains much of its value, depreciating at a rate of about 5% per year.

In July 26, 2006, a staggering, 119,000 units of the CRV were recalled because the owner's manuals contained incorrect contact information for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline. Honda sent postcards to dealers and owners with the correct NHTSA information.

The CR-V does not have a great fuel economy, achieving only 20 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. These are not terrible numbers either, considering the CR-V is still an SUV.

In what may be the CR-V's most impressive figure, the compact SUV is Honda's most globalized product, sold in 160 countries throughout North America, Europe, Asia, South America and Africa - the most of any Honda automotive product.

The Honda CRV is the most popular SUV sold in Australia as on January 2008 and a total of 1575 Honda CRVs have been sold, giving it a market share of 19.2%

Powered by a 2.4-liter, DOHC, i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine that produces 166 horsepower at 5800 rpm, the CR-V offers refined and responsive performance with a low level of particle emissions.

There are large discrepancies as to what "CR-V" stands for. Although Honda literature in the UK makes reference to "Compact Recreational Vehicle," some sources from within the organization say it stands for "Comfortable Runaround Vehicle."

The CR-V is one of only two small SUVs to achieve both the highest federal crash safety rating for frontal and side impacts and the top IIHS safety rating.
