Starting at $22, 730, the C30's main competitor in the U.S. market is the Volkswagen GTI. Although both cars are stacked with similar engines, the C30 is likely to depreciate less thanks in large part to its robust build and durability.

According to Volvo, the C30 is capable of reaching 0-60 mph in a whopping 6.2 seconds, placing it just ahead of the 6.3-second time of the GTI.

The production of Volvo C30 is expected to reach 65,000 units a year and to comprise 75% for sale in the European Markets.

Although it doesn't have great fuel economy compared to its hybrid competitors, the C30 offers 22 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway, numbers that are likely to be satisfactory enough for possible consumers.

Volvo C30 has won European Golden Steering Wheel award in 2006, 2008 AUTOMOBILE Magazine All Star Award, and nominee for World Car of the Year Awards 2008 in design category and World Car of the Year Category, Ward's Interior Design award for best brand reflection, and also Best Interior Design of the Year Award for 2007.

Upon its introduction to the U.S market, the C30 has been recalled because the power steering line hose was not properly vulcanized and did not meet specifications. 1,020 of Volvo's small cars have been recalled, the C30 was one of them.

Although the C30 is sold only with the top of the line T5 motor in the American market, it's 2.5-liter engine and 218 horsepower make the C30 respectably fast, reaching a top speed of 149 mph.

A leader in environmental protection technology, the C30 is built with non-toxic materials that comply with the ecological Oeko-Tex standard 100, so passengers can breathe cleaner air.

Because so many accidents happen at the rear of the car, the all-new C30 comes equipped with a Rear Collision Protection System that, with different grades of steel, helps control deformation in the rear of the car.

James Healey of USA Today offered a notable comparison of the C30's appeal, noting that the "C30 seems like Volvo's version of Toyota's Scion vehicles, aimed at youthful thinkers unconcerned about what mainstream buyers might think."
