Reaching 0-62 mph in 5.7 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph, it should come as no surprise that the S60 has constantly been at the top of the sales charts amongst European Car dealers.

Through Volvo's extensive work with the Police Department in the UK and EU, the Swedish automaker came out with an S60 model fitted specifically to the needs of the force. The suspension was upgraded, the battery enlarged to power all the extra equipment and a tailor made police fuse box in the boot were all integrated in Volvo's police specific S60.

The Volvo S60 has a mileage to gallon ratio of 30 MPG on the highway and 21 MPG in the city. The fuel tank has a capacity of 18 gallons.

The Volvo S60 appeared on renowned auto series "Top Gear" in episode 9 of season 2. Although it wasn't praised for its speed, they found it to be very comfortable and civilized, even noting that it was "More like a miniature version of the Rolls-Royce Phantom than a serious competitor to the BMW M3."

The second generation of the Volvo S60 is not expected to hit American markets until late 2009, however, early photos hint towards a smaller, wave-like exterior design with a front that gets a new grille and Volvo badge, along with dual exhaust and a flatter back. It will be modeled on the P24 platform that is also used for the new XC60 concept model.
