10 Facts about Sony Ericsson k800i
1
The Sony-Ericsson K800i was released in June 2006 and as of Q4/2008 9.3M units have been sold worldwide (over 80% of them in Europe and Oceania).
2
In a landmark court case on September 2008 in the UK, a law student was awarded £266 after a Sony-Ericsson retailer refused to refund or exchange a faulty K800i that kept dropping calls and failed to log received calls.
3
Battery life for the K800i is advertised to be 350 hours of stand-by or 7 hours of talk-time, however 3G connectivity drastically reduces these numbers (it can be turned off to increase battery life).
4
Quickly after its release, the K800i retail price dropped from ~$700 to ~$400. Retail price continued to drop gradually and stands at about ~$240 as of Q4/2008.
5
The K800i comes with a much needed Memory Stick Micro slot for memory extension as its internal memory is only 64 MB (enough for ~16 MP3 songs or ~20 high-quality pictures).
6
Weighing in at 115 grams, the K800i is a bit heavy for its size (105x47x22mm with a 240x320 pixel screen).
7
Marketed as a high-end camera phone, the K800i comes equipped with Xenon flash, autofocus and a built-in picture editor with its 3.15MP camera.
8
If you took the K800i to a basketball game, you might not be able to take pictures of all the action as there is some delay between shots due to having to switch back into picture mode before each shot.
9
If purchased from a carrier, the K800i is typically blocked and cannot be used with another carrier. The K800i can be unlocked by entering a code (different for each phone) based on its IMEI (serial number). If a wrong code is entered 5 times, the phone will become blocked permanently.
10
Professional Tennis player Ana Ivanovic starred in a Sony-Ericsson commercial for the K800i during its launch titled "Never miss a shot". Coincidently, Ana hasn't missed many shots since and is now ranked #4 in the world (#14 at the time of the commercial).
